Policies & FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are classes located?

Classes are held in my home, located in Leander, Texas.

Is there a minimum Number of students?

To help create a fun, comfortable, and safe learning environment, children's and teen sewing classes require a minimum of two (2) students in order to be held. This allows students to learn alongside a peer while ensuring the best classroom experience.

If the minimum enrollment is not met, SCSS may cancel or reschedule the class. Families will be notified as soon as possible of any changes, and any applicable refunds will be issued.

Adult classes are exempt from the minimum enrollment requirement and will be held as scheduled, even if only one student is enrolled. Standard class tuition applies.

Is there a bad weather policy?

If the weather is bad, please call ahead and verify that your class will be held. If cancelled, a make-up class will be scheduled.

Do you offer private classes?

Yes! Private classes are offered at $100 for each 2-hour class. Please contact Savvy Chix Studio for scheduling.

Supplies

  • Sewing machines and sewing supplies (scissors, pins, rulers, etc.) are provided for in class.
  • Fabric and notions are the responsibility of the student.

Student Expectations & Preparations

  • Students should wash their hands and arms thoroughly before class and arrive with long hair tied back.
  • Cat and/or dog owners: please wear a clean top to class. The instructor is highly allergic to pet dander, and we appreciate your help! Thank you!

Class Attendance

  • Students should arrive on time for class whenever possible. We understand that occasional delays happen, but please communicate if you are running late.
  • Students must be picked up promptly at the scheduled class end time. A $15 late pickup fee will be charged for students picked up more than 10 minutes after class ends. Again, please communicate if you are running late.

Missed/Cancelled Classes

  • Enrollment reserves a space specifically for your student. Because that space cannot be filled if a class is missed, make-up classes and refunds are not available for missed classes.
  • If the instructor needs to cancels a class, one Saturday make-up lesson will be offered. To keep scheduling manageable for all families, additional make-up dates cannot be arranged.

Waiting Policy

  • To provide a safe, focused, and comfortable learning environment for all students, only paid and registered students may attend sewing classes. Please do not bring guests, siblings, or other children who are not enrolled in the class.
  • Because classes are held in a private home, we are unable to accommodate parents or guests waiting inside during classes. Parents are welcome to drop students off and return at the end of the scheduled class time. If you choose to remain nearby, please wait outside the home in your vehicle. Parents are encouraged to come and meet the instructor ahead of classes. Please reach out. I'd love to meet you!

Cancellation Policy:

We understand that plans can change. When a student enrolls in a course, a space is reserved specifically for that student. In small-group sewing classes, last-minute cancellations can make it difficult to fill that space and may impact course preparation, materials, and other students who may have wanted to register.

Our cancellation policy helps us prepare for each class while still providing flexibility when possible.

  • 7 or more days before class begins: A refund will be issued, less a 10% cancellation fee.
  • Less than 7 days before class begins: A course credit will be issued. This credit may be applied toward another available course within the same session, if space is available. Credits cannot be carried over into future sessions.
  • On the day of class or after the class begins: No refunds or course credits will be issued.

If a student chooses not to use their course credit within the current session, future course will require a new registration.

If Savvy Chix Sewing Studio cancels a course before it begins, a full refund for the amount paid will be issued. If Savvy Chix Sewing Studio discontinues a course after it begins, a prorated refund will be provided for any remaining lessons.

Handicaps or Diabilities:

  • Savvy Chix Sewing Studio is not handicap accessible. Classes are held in my home.
  • If student/child has learning disabilities, please contact Savvy Chix Sewing Studio in advance, to discuss options that will best work for your child before enrolling in class. We want to make this an enjoyable experience for all.
